    Affordable. Polite. Efficient.

My grandfathers passing was sudden and unexpected, it shook our family to the core. In the weeks following we learned that the paperwork postmortem can feel never ending while still in mourning of a loved one. It servers as a concrete reminder of the loss that you must relive with each document you submit. These indentures rely on attention to detail, triple checking of important facts, and a death certificate - which we entrusted Simply Cremation in Edmonton.

I am sure that the other reviewers who put 1 Star were in a "certain frame of mind" when they wrote their reviews.

After reading the previous 2 reviews I can whole-heartily tell you that we too experienced the same pain and humility due to this business that should not be allowed to continue operate.

Straightforward service - no issues. Less than half the cost of what they charge down the road.

As if filling the papers wasn’t hard enough the first time, we must now reopen our wounds and relive the anguish and agony of resubmitting each and every form. Words can not describe how hurt my grandmother is from the lack of attention to detail provided by this company. Their disinterest in the situation has left my family concerned as to whether or not we have the right ashes at home and this is the type of uncertainty I wouldn’t wish upon anyone.

After filing many papers for the government, banks, and many other institutions, we noticed that the documentation provided from Simply Cremations was incorrect. By failing to check their work, they provided us with a death certificate with the wrong date on it. The staff was cold in accepting the news of their mistake and we were told “it’s human error”; my grandmother received no formal apology.

I returned again the next day to deliver the jersey and asked to clarify when the cremation would take place and was told on Tuesday due to the Victoria day long weekend. Well that day is today and I have just learned that my brother has already been cremated over the weekend without our consent or knowledge.

As far as the experience went with my Dad everything worked out fine.

I'm not sure what people are expecting from what is known bluntly as a 'discount funeral home."

This whole experience is like something out of a bad dream or nightmare. I have never experienced such reckless disregard for humanity in my days walking this earth. It is absolutely sinful that my only brother or any other human being should be treated in this manner. I sincerely pray for this business and it's employees that they change their ways of conducting business so that no other grieving family ever has to endure this kind of mental anguish and humility during their times of great loss. Shame on you Simply Cremations for the errors of your ways and not previously changing the ways you conduct business based on real people's reviews.

When my brothers wife and I showed up for an appointment, we were both shocked to learn that they had already had my brother at their location before any documentation was even signed. This was of course after the fact that we did not even receive a simple condolence for our loss. Like a previous review states, we were taken into a small office and whisked through the documentation. My brother's wish was to be cremated in his New York Rangers Jersey. I picked up the Jersey and was on route to deliver it to Simply Cremations. I gave a courtesy call to notify them that I may be a few minutes past 5pm, their closing time, and I was told that I would have to come tomorrow because they leave at 5pm.

I apologize to you my brother for the way you have been treated after your passing and I pray that you are finally resting in peace.

I just wanted you to know that I did not find this experience at all professional. As one who is in the nursing profession we should have been greeted, discussed our feelings a bit and treated with empathy and caring. I found we were herded into a small office and it was all business. As a nurse I would have extended my condolences, talked a bit about the situation and spent some time with my clients and at least acted like I cared. Then when we went back to pick up my deceased son, his remains and those of others were behind the counter in mail slots. How horrible! To have someone's remains treated like mail. And to just have him plopped on the counter. I would have thought and suggest to you that you put the ashes in another room and train your staff to take the clients in the room where the services are and sit them down and give your condolences and then get the ashes from the other room and bring them in with respect and empathy. I have never been so shocked as to the lack of respect, empathy and caring. These ashes are all we have left of our deceased and need to be treated with respect. Please choose your staff carefully and make sure they are caring, empathetic and respectful of the families and deceased.
