To say that we got taken advantage of is the hugest understatement of understatements. In my line of work if I quote you a price then that's the price. Even if I have to take a bath I take a bath because that's what honor and integrity are all about. Metro Moving Inc. should be shut down - he has no honor, he has no integrity and he is a disgrace to all the movers out there that keep there word.

I paid for a truck and TWO guys. The only time the driver really helped was with stuff his co-worker could lift on his own. The driver made it a point to make snide remarks about the quality of my furniture and the size of my apartment. Sorry excuse for business and that clown shouldn't be driving anything more than a tricycle. Don't give them a DIME.

I booked 3 guys and a 26 foot truck and they showed up with 2 guys and the truck already had someone else's stuff in it. The guys they sent could barely lift any furniture so it took ages and my husband had to help with anything heavy. They didn't wrap anything and took no care loading so all my furniture was scuffed. They took massive gouges out of my wall and complained "you guys have too much stuff" even though they didn't need to move mattresses, box springs or chairs, just a living room set and boxes.

I recently hired Metro Moving Inc. to perform my move (August 15th to be exact). I was quoted $85.00 per hour, for a 17ft truck and three movers to arrive on Friday at 12pm. Which would have been perfect, however 3.5 hours, multiple phone calls and excuses later, they finally arrived. On the phone he had explained to me that their 17ft truck had broken down, and I would be getting a 20ft truck for no additional cost for the inconvenience which was fine, I understand things happen. Upon arrival, the apparent owner "Doug" informs me that it will be $100.00 per hour with a three hour minimum and accuses me of trying to manipulate him because I brought up the $85.00 he quoted me. I agree to the $100.00 per hour as I am already 3.5 hours behind schedule at this point. Doug took it upon himself to stroll into my office, and start using my phone charger, without even asking I might add. Out of the two employees, one did work very hard, Doug spent the entire move either laying in the box of the truck on blankets or in the cab of the truck fighting with a veterinarian about his dogs ear (which he brought with him and kept him in the cab of the truck). Things were being loaded, progress was being made until the last 3 items. They dented my front door with a 12 inch scratch, and banged up my stairwell with a bed frame. I went outside to ask Doug what he was going to do with the damage. He informed me that the move is not insured, when their website clearly lists it is, then became very belligerent when I asked about compensation off of the price of the move, he simply refused. At this point, my patience had worn thin, I did ask that they be more careful while moving into my new home, as it is brand new, Doug's response " Yeah Buddy, I'll be real careful" When we arrived at my new home, I had to ask them to remove their boots prior to walking on the carpet, this was a ten minute conversation about why.... Prior to unloading the truck Doug says "I need my money now", so they showed up at 3:30pm and they were done and left by 6:15pm. This would be in my mind $300.00 as they advertise there is no travel time or hidden fees to get to the job site. Also considering my old home and new home are less then 5kms apart. He tells me $400.00 + $20.00 for GST (keeping in mind I paid in cash) and then would not provide me a receipt. Needless to say, if Doug is the owner, he has spent some decent money to make a very professional looking reputable website, however I would not trust these folks with sweeping my garage floor, let alone another move.

When they actually started moving things it was at a snails pace, with mini breaks every time they thought they were out of sight back at the truck. 20 minutes in and it's time for a smoke break. They have NO REGARD for your property. Your stuff will be thrown, walked on, banged up and dirtied.

The owner kept telling us there was no need that there would be no problems - that he would send a 28 foot truck, there would be plenty of room, not to worry etc. etc. etc. We asked him to send an email confirmation which he never did. We again said we would send him emails to confirm and he assured us this was not necessary. We phoned him on at least 10 occasions and every time he said not to worry. We trusted him.............another huge mistake.

I hired Metropolitan Movers last year in December to move my furniture from Edmonton to Calgary. I went in detail with the representative named Ellen for the quote which includes estimating every single item in a 2BR apartment. The quote price was around $800 which sounded reasonable. They subcontracted out to a company named Trans Canada Movers. After it reached the destination, I was handed the final bill of about $2800! I refused to pay the extra $2000 so they threatened me that they will take the furniture away and I'll end up paying $450 more for storage if I don't pay my bill right now. After 3 hours of unpleasant discussion with their rude managers, I ended up paying $2200 which more than double the quoted price. I was leaving the country and I had no other options at the last minute. I have lived in Canada for 6.5 years and this was by far the worst experience ever for me! On top of this, the furniture was scratched and damaged for which they didn't take any responsibility. Stay away from these guys!

On the day we were to move his two men showed up ( and I want to say these men were honorable and the driver in particular was hard working and a man of his word - I definitely cannot say the same for the owner).

We told the owner we wanted his best price as we were going to phone numerous companies. They quoted us a price of $750.00 to move My Wife and I said we were going to check other movers and he moved his price to $500.00. We accepted and that was the biggest mistake we ever made!!!

The men had about a 3rd of the truck loaded up when the weasel of an owner came up to the condo and told me he could not move us for the price he quoted. He told his men to go back down to the truck and bring back what they had already loaded.

We had recommended him to another friend who he had moved on the weekend for $65.00/hour. He told me that he would do it for $135.00/hr. Then he had the nerve to say her charge was less because the amount to move was less substantial. When I asked if a couch was a couch he said nothing.

They took numerous breaks, were rude and unprofessional and tracked mud into my brand new house.

I wanted to make sure he delivered the furniture. I found out the day of the move he was not liable for any damage AND IF YOU WANT INSURANCE FROM HIM IT WAS AN ADDITONAL $165.0/HR - well according to him at any rate.

Unbelievable. The worst business experience I've ever had. I would like to be descriptive with some names, but they never introduced themselves to me. They showed up 50 MINUTES LATE. This was the first warning sign, but like others I was in a pinch and had to get it done. He could barely drive the 5 ton came he came in, and was scared to back it into a spot in front of my building. After asking my upstairs neighbour to move her vehicle (she did so reluctantly, stating "any half decent driver could fit there") he parked the truck in the spot, with no need for her to move her car after the fact because he was in the lines anyway. Oh and before he moved it, ME and the other guy he had with him had to put away the ramp.

We repeatedly phoned them to make sure they understood we had a 3 bedroom condo with lots of boxes and a storage shed full of other goods. We also told the owner on numerous occasions that we would send him pictures of the rooms and of the storage shed. We wanted to make sure he understood the amount of furniture we had.

I told him right to his face that he was holding me hostage and extorting money. He had the gall to say that was not the case. I asked him what he would call it then. All he would say was "that's not the case at all". We had to move, he had my furniture.

They charged me extra time, and we ended up just unloading everything in front of the house and I had to call friends to help bring everything in. I was afraid my items would be held hostage if I didn't give them more money. It was $850 already.
