    - The heaters are turned down very low in the winter, which pretty much means any normal person needs to buy a sweater and winter gloves to workout. They conveniently sell sweaters at the front desk.

Update: After 2 years I decided to leave this facility. I was asked to re sign my membership, which meant signing another 2 year contract. This is the first time I've been asked this in the 14+ years I've been lifting. My other option was to have my dues increased by $10/month to $65/month.

    - They keep saying that "you're part of the family". You're not.. It's a fantastic manipulative tactic to make it uncomfortable for someone to complain about anything. They will use this phrasing when it suits them, and ignore it when it doesn't.

They asked me to bring in a physical cancellation letter (come on, it's 2017! Plus my contract expired a year earlier, so I was just month to month). Cancelling couldn't just be done verbally and they wouldn't provide me with a sheet of paper to write one there. They expected me to go home, write up a letter, and physically deliver it in person. I confirmed with them multiple times that I was paid up until the end of the month and despite notifying them nearly 2 weeks before the end of the month (with verbal confirmation that my membership was done) my credit card company notified me that they attempted to charge my credit card for the following month. I was smart enough to cancel my card ahead of time with a gut feel that they would try to charge again (based on other peoples' reviews). In conclusion, don't give them your credit card number unless you want to cancel it.

    - (Not a complaint about the gym itself, but rather the members.. ) A lot of the members seem to think it's okay to leave their (large amount of) weights on after they're done with equipment. It's annoying having to consistently take off weights to warm up.

Always make sure you discuss the sign-up details up front. I was almost put into a 24 month contract without it ever being spoken of. I talked them down to 12 months at $55/month, which is much more reasonable. There was in an additional hidden $45 signup fee that was written to the contract AFTER I signed it. Again, this was never discussed prior to sign up. There don't seem to be any yearly maintenance fees that World Health charges, so I'll put it under the rug even though I'm not happy with it.

I'm pretty sure that the reviewer "King Kong" is the owner of the gym.

My husband and I have been going to the Bull Pen gym for almost 18 years. It is a great gym that has everything we need and has helped us achieve our fitness goals over the years. Lots of gyms have come and gone during this time, and we are greatful that the Bull Pen has continued to be here providing a great environment for our family.

Again, overall it's a fantastic gym. It's not much to look at, but in my opinion the equipment is maintained well and the family that owns the gym also uses it. This is big.

I was hopeful when I dropped in at first since it's a true "hardcore" looking gym. It's a family run gym, who seem rather nice from the interaction I've had with them so far. However, the gym has not been maintained well. While there's a good choice of equipment and looks fantastic at first glance (and in photos), there are lots of things wrong with it.

Bullpen gym is the best gym around you can't beat the staff it's family owned and ran they bring you into there family keep you motivated and extremely helpful . All the best equipment available and never have to wait to use anything All the members are great and also helpful . If you want to train with warrior's to be a warrior the bullpen is the only place to be . One of the only true hardcore gyms around if you want to be a Barbie or princes and nit pick stupid little stuff stay at whatever gym your at cause you probably couldnt handle a true hard core gym

    - They had a sign saying that they'd be open on one of the recent holidays, but when I showed up they decided to take of the day off.

    - (Like others have said on here already).. They tried to sign me into a 2 year contract without actually telling me up front. I think that this is a very bad business practice -- most other gyms I've found are at least honest about the contract. I nearly fell for it before I read the fine print.

    - The change rooms regularly smell rather unclean, and the carpets are well past their expiry.

    - The majority of the barbells are noticeably bent. It's frustrating having to hunt for a bar that isn't bent. This can surprise you when you try to lift heavy and the bar wants to rotate out of the hands.

Bull pen gym is a great gym to train at and the staff is good to.They veer u into a direction u want or u ask to go into. They have good knowledge on training and on supplement intake, never hesitate to task questions cause there always there to answer. People that are seriously hardcore trainer feel right at home when they go there and outsiders are always welcome and never treated any different. Screw all the hater and cry baby’s

    - The roof consistently leaks over the floor and equipment when it rains or the snow melts. Rusty roof water gets over the equipment and the owners use a small pail and rags to catch it (which doesn't catch a lot of it).

Overall it's a great facility. I've never met as nice of people here as I did in 10+ years at World Health. I forsee myself sticking with them for many years to come.

There are still some gotchas to note...
  • Owen
    Added 2013.09.23
    - Most of the cables on the pulley systems are worn out down to the bare metal cable. This makes for inconsistent movement.
