  Long story, but overall, I would strongly advise against trying to work with this Michael Hill location, and in general avoid their products if you are looking for jewelry of quality matching its cost.

  Very rude when you call in for status on jewellery sent away. I was interrupted in the middle of talking to be rudely shut down before I had even asked for a status update. My rush ring came in late, only for it to be too big again. When I was initially sized I was not told quarter sizes were available, so now I have a ring I cannot wear because the staff did not size me properly the first time. I would take it to be resized but the staff were rude to me and have left me with a sour disposition towards Michael hill.

  Rather than writing an angry review immediately after feeling the anxiety of seeing the location I had left my ring at having apparently gone through midnight move, I gave the management a chance to repair the situation, and was greeted with the proverbial "anything for a sale" smooth-talking and a side of unprofessionalism to criticize colleagues to a customer. I would much rather work with a competent jewelry firm for future repairs, and avoid giving Michael Hill another $50-$250 on exchange for more of their mediocre product.

  When we spoke to him, he offered us a vague return on the ring towards exchange for another product, and promptly took us to a "right hand ring" case containing, as the few price labels we could see would indicate, rings mostly in the 1.5~2.5x cost of our piece's label. He was quick to sell the other franchise location down the river, saying that all the trouble we had experienced was because they had done poorly by us in resizing the ring in the first place, and that if we'd only purchase product in exchange with him that it would be much better. He vaguely offered staff pricing at perhaps as low as 50% on product we decided to purchase. We waited, deliberated, and stayed calm in the showroom, checked product catalogs online to see what our options would actually be in the price range we were comfortable with, and left for the evening keeping the original, troublesome product.

  I wanted a ring as a gift for my mom's birthday which was in 2 weeks and they said they could get the ring delivered before then. A month passes and I still don't have the ring. I had to buy her a whole other seperate birthday gift because it didn't arrive on time. Even when I contacted them to inquire about the ring they never called back. The sales associate lied about the time it would take to arrive and cut off communication until it got here. Very dissapointing experience.

  A year and a half ago I purchased a "right hand ring" from a different Michael Hill location, and spent the next two months having it sent back and forth for various repairs - resizing, then a diamond that had fallen out of the band (was replaced with one of a higher quality rating, making the overall appearance of the piece look quite shoddy), then the seam where the resizing had been done corroded immediately (inconsistent grade of silver in the band, maybe?) and snapped, then a replacement ring of the same model was ordered and resized again. It was an ordeal, and left me with a rather sour disposition toward the franchise.

  The resizing seam snapped again after I had moved to Edmonton, so I take it to this Michael Hill franchise while they were in their temporary location, they quote me two weeks for the ring to be out and back, and I wait for a call. I waited until a few days after they said it would be available by, and the number (the one currently on this page), was not in service. I walk to the physical location I had dropped the ring off at, and it was shuttered and in the process of being set up for another retail vendor. I was shocked, and asked adjacent store staff if they happened to know if Michael Hill had reopened elsewhere. They had no idea. I call customer service for the mall, and they had no idea, and could not offer me directions to where the location would be. Eventually Google Maps was able to give us historical directions to their previous location, and we tried to talk to staff there. They advised that we wait to talk to the manager of the location, and so we came in on the weekend, since that was the only time he was in that our work schedules would allow us to speak to him.
