This a great park that I grew up hanging out with my buddies growing up. I did not grow up in this neighbourhood per say, but knew people who lived only a 5 minutes drive away or so. It is located in the blue quill neighbourhood, overlooking the blackmud creek. The park kinda winds it's way southward the further east you go. I t starts of narrow, then the further down you go, the more it expands into a open area. It is a also a dog park, and a great place to walk your pet, or play with it. It's also a fun place to throw a baseball or football around. Honestly, we would just go there and smoke a lot of weed lol. It's a perfect drive to park your car and toke up, or to go for a walk and light a dubbie. That was in my younger days, would not do that these days. Yeah, it's a great park. If your in the southwest (by the southwest YMCA), or it the heritage area, it's cool place to stop. The view is also very breathtaking in the summer. The blackmud creek ravine is full of lush mix of large spruce and deciduous trees, and it is a great view on the ridge overlooking the valley and ravine. So, if you want to go for a walk, play or walk the dog, or just throw a ball around, it's a nice place to be.

If you are thinking if going here, take a look on the city of Edmonton website for a map of the off leash boundaries. Or keep an eye out for the signs that mark the boundaries. Many people have their dogs off leash inalrger area than is technically designated as off leash just as a warning.

Lots of room for off leash activities for your canine companions. Alas some porta potty would be nice.

A significant portion of big bear Park is a "parks for paws" dog off leash park. I go 4-5 times a week with my energetic pointer and my baby in his stroller. The park consists of a couple of large fields, perfect for playing fetch. It also runs by bears paw (human made) lake and blackmud creek ravine. There are some nice walking paths in the ravine as well that you can access from 2 ends of the park. I love this park for My dog because it's almost all nice dogs that go there with responsible humans (no aggression issues that I have encountered and people are good about picking up waste.
